چکیده

Abstract Aim Subtrochanteric femoral fractures are said to occur in the 5cm of bone immediately distal lesser trochanter. This study aims compare peri-operative outcome measures patients with subtrochanteric treated either an IMN, or alternative construct, dynamic hip screw (DHS). Method A retrospective review all presenting our institution between October 2014 and May 2019 was performed. All were classified into two treatment groups, IMN DHS. These groups compared on including radiation dose area product (DAP), length hospital stay, estimated blood loss, mortality, re-operation/complication rate. Results total 86 presented a fracture during time period. Of these, 74 (86%) received remaining 12 (14%) The only comparative showing statistically significant difference DAP loss., both which significantly lower DHS group. other failed reach statistical significance. Conclusions Although current United Kingdom national guidelines advise should be used this suggest that DHS, also has reduced implant cost may better option some cases. There not one optimal for fractures. Recent biomechanical research suggests is able provide adequate fixation more stable subtypes, whereas required unstable

Management of Pertrochanteric Fractures with Proximal Femoral Nail and Comparison of Results with Dynamic Hip Screw

Introduction: Proximal Femoral Nail and Dynamic Hip Screw, both are the accepted implants for the internal fixation of Pertrochanteric fractures. Objectives of the research were to compare the results of proximal femoral nail and dynamic hip screw in terms of functional mobility of the patients and the results would also be compared in terms of operating time, peri-operative blood loss, radiolo...

Treatment of comminuted subtrochanteric fractures by dynamic hip screw.

Twenty four cases of fracture of the proximal femoral shaft treated with dynamic hip screw fixation are included. All had severe comminution with subtrochanteric extensions. Dynamic hip screw provided stable osteosynthesis and helped to achieve bone union within 18 weeks in 19 of 21 followed-up cases. The anatomical configuration of the femur was maintained with minimal limb length discrepancy ...
